Sam is an independent Palestinian journalist living in this district for 25 years. He has been a vocal opponent of genocide and imperialism in government press conferences, and most recently challenged Chuck Schumer at a Public Citizen event and was forcibly removed. Sam has been a longtime human rights activist and wants to use a run for office to highlight our government's continued involvement in foreign imperialist wars, and increase the momentum for the anti genocide movement, running against AIPAC Glenn Ivey in one of the most Democratic (D+39) districts in the country. We have a win goal of coming in second ahead of the Republican, as a Green Party candidate. We also believe this run will be an assist to the Green Party gubernatorial candidate Andy Ellis, and there are substantial electoral wins for the Green Party if he pulls 3-4%.
Focus on ongoing illegal and immoral aggression, genocide in Palestine and other areas of civilian human rights abuses including the war on Iran. Cut Defense budget, reduce influence of MIC and military sector lobbyists, redefine defense priorities
All of this kind of goes together with the "mass incarceration surveillance police state" and we have to be vocal about it, legislate against it, hold big tech accountable for constitutional rights violations, abuses of police, overreach of agencies, and a fundamental change in policy that has derived from the Patriot Act and associated bills. We are continuing the path to full blown fascism
To ensure Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness for everyone in the US, we have to change our policies in regards to these three areas. We need a Medicare for All system a la Bernie Sanders/Pramila Jayapal, we need to remove barriers from federal funding for housing (Faircloth) and then invest heavily in social housing, and we need free colleges and trade schools and early childhood education. These are hallmarks of a functional society that cares about itself and others, and we are currently living in a capitalist hellscape that grinds the working class into dirt no matter how hard they work while giving illusory deference to a nonexistent American Dream. The facade is crumbling. People are ready for real change.
